Belmont Stakes

All eyes are on Long Island, New York today where the Belmont Stakes are being held this evening. Weather is very important to horse racing as the track condition can really determine the outcome of the race. Today, weather won’t be an issue as skies are clear with temperatures around 80 degrees which will make for a fast track.

 

This is a big turn around from last year, when portions of Long Island saw nearly four inches of rain the day before the race and an additional half inch on race day. Only 48,000 fans made it to the race last year which isn’t even half of the 120,000 in attendance today.
