Active Weather Ahead

Real-Time Regional Radars:

————————————————————————-

This Afternoon – Mostly Sunny; Warm – High 87º / Tonight – Mostly Cloudy; Iso’d Storm – Low 68º

The summer-like feel continues across much of Bowling Green as temperatures were mild early this morning. Highs this afternoon will soar into the upper 80’s under a good mix of sun and clouds. Unlike yesterday, today will offer more humid conditions as things will seem a little sticky outside. However, if you accompany the nice southwesterly breeze from 10-15 mph, conditions have been much more tolerable.

Temperatures will remain mild this evening and tonight as lows drop into the upper 60’s. While Bowling Green should remain dry this evening, we’ll keep an isolated shower or storm chance in the forecast as our next system slowly tracks southeastward across the Commonwealth.

Thu – Partly Sunny; Sct’d Storms – High 84º / Thu Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 60º

The slow moving cold front will work through northern portions of Kentucky overnight before arriving on our doorstep tomorrow. Plenty of moisture will be available across the region as precipitable water values range from 1.4 – 1.6” with dewpoint values in the lower 60’s. One thing is for sure, plenty of energy will be present for storm development.

As the cold front swings southward through our Thursday, daytime heating and partly sunny skies will only add to the potential development. Temperatures will rise into the mid 80’s as any sunshine will only increase our instability. Scattered showers and storms will develop as activity ramps up tomorrow afternoon.

The latest forecast from the Storm Prediction Center has outlined a good chunk of southern Kentucky in a slight risk for severe storms. This does include Bowing Green as primary threats from any storm will be heavy rain, damaging winds, hail and frequent cloud-ground lightning.

Fri – Partly Sunny; Pleasant – High 79º / Fri Night – Partly Cloudy; Mild – Low 59º

Now, I’m not all bad news. Friday will shape up to be a fairly nice day. We’ll deal with partly cloudy skies and pleasant conditions as highs cool into the upper 70’s. Not bad so far, right?! The cold front will continue to dive southward into the Volunteer state as plenty of dry air filters across the Commonwealth.

Buh bye now….

High pressure will work across the Great Lakes Region keeping the remnants of any storm activity to our south. We’ll begin to dry out through the weekend as Memorial Day shapes up to be a nice one. Plenty of sunshine hangs tough in the forecast with warm temperatures in the 80’s as conditions look prime for any outdoor festivities.
