Warmth Continues…Storms Possible

Real-Time Regional Radar:

________________________________________________________________

This Afternoon – Mostly Sunny; Warm – High 84º / Tonight – Mostly Clear; Mild – Low 62º

3pm 83º – 6pm 80º – 9pm 78º – 12am 66º – 3am 63º – 6am 62º

Despite the breezy southwesterly winds across the area today, a much improved feel temperature wise has taken over. Today’s highs are nearly 10 degrees warmer than our Monday as temperatures have soared into the lower-middle 80’s. Although a few high clouds are passing over, it’s nothing dense enough to block out that beautiful sunshine we’re seeing.

Later tonight expect those winds to calm as temperatures remain mild. Overnight lows will drop into the low 60’s for Bowling Green as we sit much warmer than we did just a few nights ago. Mostly clear skies will prevail through tomorrow morning before our next system edges closer tomorrow afternoon bringing rain and storm chances into the forecast.

I know…you get upset when I say rain chances….

Wed – Partly Sunny; Iso’d Storms – High 86º / Wed Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 66º

6am 63º – 9am 74º – 12pm 82º – 3pm 86º – 6pm 84º – 9pm 75º

A slow moving cold front will begin to track across the Commonwealth from the north. The atmosphere will be juicy tomorrow with dewpoint values rising into the lower 60’s as the muggy summer-time feel continues. The Storm Prediction Center has outlined a good chunk of the state under a slight risk for severe storms. This updated risk does not include Bowling Green.

However, the development of isolated storms remains a possibility across southern Kentucky as any activity could still be on the strong side. With that said, for any development Wednesday, primary threats will generally consist of heavy rain, damaging winds and hail.

Thu – Partly Sunny; Sct’d Storms – High 84º / Thu Night – Partly Cloudy; Mild – Low 61º

As the cold front dives southward into southern Kentucky on Thursday, plenty of moisture will be available for storm development. Precipitable water values around 1.4’’ will be present early Thursday afternoon along with plenty of instability. This front will provide the lift needed to initiate any storms as chances for activity remain hit and miss.

The good news is this system will work southward Thursday evening as the aforementioned cold front finally clears the area. In return, partly cloudy skies will hang tough throughout the evening and overnight hours as temperatures drop into the lower 60’s.

Highs for Friday will reach the upper 70’s for Bowling Green as a nice stretch looks to stick around through your Memorial Day weekend. Dry weather looks apparent through this stretch as high pressure builds over the Great Lakes by Friday afternoon. This will help keep any remnant storm activity to our south as we look to wrap up another work week.
