Improving Conditions

We survived snowpocalypse...
We survived snowpocalypse 2014.

Today 3/4 – Sunny & Cool – High 35˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 14˚

6am 8˚ ~ 9am 21˚ ~ 12pm 31˚ ~ 3pm 35˚ ~ 6pm 31˚ ~ 9pm 22˚

Surface ridging will combine with high pressure over the northeast today, providing mostly sunny skies across our area.  Winds should stay relatively calm.  Temps are bitterly cold this morning, with values currently in the single digits *Cue Collective Sigh*.

Dress to combat the frigid feel to the air.  Gloves, double/triple layers, obnoxious hats that do nothing more than make other people stare at you while keeping your head warm are encouraged.  Here’s a look at current surface conditions:

Roads are still in rough shape.  Travel carefully on the morning commute.  Be sure to give yourself extra time…you’ll need it.  With that being said, I do expect to see road conditions improve, especially through the afternoon, as temps rise above the freezing threshold.

Wed – Sunny – High 38˚ / Wed Night – Cloudy, Iso’d Showers- Low 32˚

Zonal flow aloft will result in calm, sunny conditions for the middle of the work week.  Cloud cover will gradually increase from the northwest as we get into the afternoon, as a disturbance aloft closes in on south central Kentucky.

On Wednesday night, this impulse will track across our proximity, with light precipitation tagging along with it to our south.  I expect us to remain dry, however, a few light rain showers are worth mentioning.

Thu – Partly Sunny – High 43˚ / Thu Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 24˚

High pressure will take control, supplementing a mix of sun & clouds to go along with temps in the low – mid 40s.  Our increase in temp values can be credited to winds shifting out of the southwest, thanks to clockwise flow from an area of high pressure that will propagate to our east.

Friday looks to be the most pleasant day of the week, as temperatures continue their warming trend under sunny skies.  As of right now, it looks as though we could see the mercury climb into the mid – upper 50s.  Our next chance at seeing precipitation will arrive on Saturday, as another weak disturbance crosses the area.  I’ll dive into more details as we get closer to time.

That’s what I’m made of this morning, folks.  As always, stay in touch with @WarrenCountyWx & @WxOrNotBG for the latest in real-time weather information.  Stay warm, and have a great day.  Thanks for reading.
