Monday Afternoon Update

This Afternoon – Scat’d Showers, BREEZY – High 54˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 30˚

3pm 54˚ ~ 6pm 51˚ ~ 9pm 41˚ ~ 12am 37˚ ~ 3am 33˚ ~ 6am 30˚

Forecast looks to be on track up to this point, folks.  A warm front has lifted to our north, with a weak cold front tracking E across the area.  This has spawned scattered showers across south central Kentucky, a trend that we will see last through the early part of tonight.  We may even hear a rumble or two of thunder.  Something else worth noting…southerly winds will amp up to 15-25mph as we progress through the afternoon.

As we get later into tonight, cloud cover should begin to break up, as high pressure takes over from the northwest.  With that being said, much colder temperatures will filter in behind the boundary, sending lows into the lower 30s.  The NAM simulated radar model below thinks the wet stuff will be well east of us by 7pm:

Tues – Partly Sunny & NICE – High 60˚ / Tues Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 43˚

High pressure will take over during the day, giving us partly to mostly sunny skies to enjoy.  A weak cold front will approach form our northwest, which will produce light southerly winds over the area.  Between rays of sunshine and southerly flow at the surface, we could see temps reach the 60s.  Here’s a look at how surface conditions may shape up at 6am Tuesday morning:

Cloud cover will increase on Tuesday night, as the weak cold front propagates east across our proximity.

Wed – Sunny & YES – High 58˚ / Wed Night – Scat’d Showers – Low 45˚

Another quiet day is in store, folks.  Rays of sunshine return to the sky, with temps once again rebounding close to 60˚.  On Wednesday night, a warm front will lift north across the region, creating the potential for scattered showers.

Thursday continues to be my focus at the moment, as the latest data has followed recent trends, suggesting a potential squall line of strong storms impacting us during the late afternoon and evening.  Models have not come into complete agreement on what we’ll be dealing with, but the ingredients are there for thunder, lighting and strong winds.  Something to watch.  I’ll have a more detailed post up later tonight outlining this particular event.

That’ll do it for today’s forecast updates on the blog.  Stay in touch with @WarrenCountyWx & @Wx_Or_Not for more frequent information.  Enjoy what’s left of your Monday.  Thanks for reading.
