Sunday Afternoon Update

This Afternoon – Iso’d Snow Showers – High 33˚ / Tonight – Scat’d Snow Showers – Low 25˚

6pm 31˚ ~ 9pm 29˚ ~ 12am 28˚ ~ 3am 26˚ ~ 6am 25˚

After several hours of scattered snow showers this morning, we were in a bit of a lull in the action here in the early afternoon hours. Just off to our west, current radar indicates areas of light & moderate snow showers moving through much of Missouri and Illinois and now into western Kentucky. These snow showers are beginning to move into our area which will cause an increase in the snow shower activity here.

Radar reflectivity at ~3:15 pm.

So expect an increased chance of scattered snow showers as we move through the afternoon and into the evening, especially in the northern counties. Areas of scattered snow showers will continue overnight and into the morning hours.

With temperatures dipping into the upper 20s this evening and overnight, some minor accumulations of snow seem plausible. Some areas could see anywhere from a dusting up to around half an inch (potentially 1″ in localized areas) while other locations might not see any accumulation at all. Though the accumulation will be minor, some roadways may become slick this evening into tomorrow morning, so travel with caution.

Mon – Scat’d Snow Showers – High 29˚ / Mon Night – Mostly Cloudy, Flurries – Low 11˚

Expect areas of scattered snow showers across south-central Kentucky mainly before noon tomorrow. Again, minor accumulations are possible with some areas picking up a dusting to a half inch. Meanwhile, some locations could end up with nothing.

With any snow shower activity and any minor accumulations, the morning commute could be impacted. Thus, plan to possibly take a little extra time in the morning if traveling.

By Monday afternoon, most of the snow showers should have moved eastward but a few isolated snow showers or a few areas of flurries will remain possible. There could even be a few breaks in the clouds allowing for a few peaks of sun late.

Mostly cloudy skies will continue overnight with a lingering chance for a few flurries. Meanwhile, temperatures will take a dive into the low teens. Some areas may dip into the single digits.

Tues – Partly Cloudy – High 31˚ / Tues Night – Iso’d Snow Showers – Low 15˚

Tuesday will be another cold day with temperatures struggling to reach the freezing mark. Overnight lows will drop back into the teens.

Say it ain’t so?? No snow? Yup, I feel confident enough that we will not see isolated snow showers Tuesday to finally leave them out of the forecast. It should be a partly cloudy day with, yes, maybe even some periods of sunshine. Wouldn’t that be nice.

Yup, you read that right… we might see some sun on Tuesday.

However, enough moisture may push up from the south overnight Tuesday to squeeze out a few flurries and possibly a few isolated snow showers… again.

That’s it for now. Keep up to date with any passing snow showers via the radar page or as always on twitter via @Wx_Or_Not and @WarrenCountyWx. Have a great Sunday evening and thanks for reading.
