Today 1/9 – Scat’d Wintry Mix – High 43˚ / Tonight – Scat’d Rain – Low 34˚

6am 30˚ ~ 9am 34˚ ~ 12pm 41˚ ~ 3pm 43˚ ~ 6pm 37˚ ~ 9pm 36˚

Disturbance will pass over the area today, creating the possibility for scattered precipitation.  The type of precip falling could vary, as moisture & temperature profiles give the atmosphere the capability of mixing in sleet and snow with plain rain.

Little to no accumulation is expected, as I think the dry lower levels will limit anything from falling until we’re above freezing.  We could see a sparse coverage of grassy areas, but not much more.  Those located to the northwest of Bowling Green, along the Ohio River, could receive a light dusting.

Anything that falls from the sky should be light.  The GFS precip model below provides a simulation of what may occur today.  It’s valid from 6am today – 12am Friday:

GFS Precip Loop Valid 6am Thursday - 12am Friday
GFS Precip Loop Valid 6am Thursday – 12am Friday

Fri – Mostly Cloudy – High 54˚ / Fri Night – Rain Likely – Low 50˚

Mid-levels of the atmosphere look to dry out as we get into our Friday, which should inhibit any precipitation from falling.  A sprinkle or two we can’t rule out.  Southerly winds will take temperatures into the mid 50s…a nice relief after dealing with the early week cold snap, eh?

Moisture return will really amp up as we get into Friday night, as southerly flow transports Gulf air to saturate our atmosphere.  Widespread rain showers are expected Friday night.

Sat – Rain Likely – High 53˚ / Sat Night – Iso’d Showers – Low 33˚

Our Saturday will start where Friday leaves off…rain showers engulfing much of the region.  The NAM simulated radar model below is valid for 3am Saturday morning.  Damp:

I can hear your moans and groans from here.  I’m not a fan of a wet Saturday, either.  Total rainfall values Friday night – Saturday could range from .50-1″.  Localized areas could see more.  It won’t be all bad, folks…by Sunday, high pressure will build into the area, providing partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 50s.

Hope you’re satisfied with that.  You can get in touch with me @Wx_Or_Not if you have any questions.  Have a fantastic start for your Thursday.  Thanks for reading.
