BRRRRRR

Today – Partly Sunny, BREEZY & COLD – High 42 / Tonight – COLD – Low 18

Brisk, northwesterly winds of 15-25mph have taken over, as an Arctic airmass continues to take shape across south central Kentucky.  Winds will only become more potent through the afternoon, as a reinforcing cold front advances southeast of our proximity.  High temps have already met their threshold today, reaching the lower 40s.  The windchill factor will make temps feel as though they are in the mid 30s.

 Sun – Sunny, BREEZY & COLD – High 32 / Sun Night – Clear – Low 20

High pressure will build in from the northwest behind this boundary, which will keep bitter cold conditions around through the weekend, as well as the majority of next week.  The model provided displays surface pressure and precipitation, valid for 3pm Sunday afternoon.  It illustrates high pressure building into our vicinity:

Pressure model valid 12pm Sunday
Surface Pressure Model Valid 12pm Sunday

Mon – Increasing Clouds – High 39 / Mon Night – Iso’d Snow Showers – Low 31

Low pressure will begin to track from the Gulf toward the east coast, placing us on the northwest side of the system.  Many questions remain with the exact track this system will take, which also puts into question if we could see winter weather.

I’ll await a few more models runs before I dive too deep into details.  Just know that it looks like we could see some wintry precip fall from the sky Monday night – Tuesday.  From what I’m seeing…it’s nothing to get too excited about.
