Monday Afternoon Update

This Afternoon – Sunny & Nice – High 75 / Tonight – Clear – Low 50

Pattern will remain nice and quiet through the remainder of today and tonight.  Clear skies will remain intact through this timeframe, which will allow lows to slide into the lower 50s overnight.

Tues – Partly Sunny, Isolated Showers – High 77 / Tue Night – Scat’d Showers – Low 58

A mix of sun and clouds will be accompanied by isolated showers during the afternoon, as a weak upper level disturbance tracks toward south central Kentucky.  Best chance at precip will be Tuesday night, as southwesterly flow sends a dampened airmass over the region.  This shouldn’t be anything of major concern, although light rainfall accumulations will be possible.  The thickness model below is valid for 10pm Tuesday night, and paints light moisture in our vicinity:

Wed – Scattered Showers & Storms, Partly Sunny – High 80 / Wed Night – Showers Diminishing – Low 57

Scattered showers and storms will remain a possibility throughout our Hump Day.  Partly sunny and tolerable will be the story for those of us who miss out on the rain.  An upper ridge will slowly being to take over Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Thurs & Fri – Sunny & Nice – High 82 / Thurs & Fri Night – Clear – Low 58

Upper ridge will maintain control across our proximity through this time period.  Plentiful amounts of sunshine will be hand-in-hand with temperature values in the lower 80s.  The following 500mb (~18,000 feet) vorticity model illustrates this ridge nicely.  It is valid for Thursday afternoon at 4pm:

Dewpoints will remain tolerable, keeping nice conditions around.  I’m still awaiting a few more model runs to get into the weekend forecast, however, it’s worth taking note that our next disturbance could reintroduce rain chances to the forecast.  I’ll continue to monitor and update you as necessary.
That’s all I’m made of at the moment, friends.  I’ll be back bright and early tomorrow morning with another breakdown of our conditions.  Enjoy the remainder of your Monday, and thanks for reading!
