Friday Afternoon Update

Friday Afternoon/Night – Showers & Storms Likely – High 83/Low 64

Cold front continues to approach south central Kentucky from our northwest, with scattered showers and storms firing ahead of it.  As we get later into this evening and tonight, precipitation will only become more widespread, with a few storms possibly becoming strong.  The SPC continues with a 5% probability of severe winds being produced within 25 miles of any given location…

Main threats will be strong winds, frequent lightning and torrential rainfall.  It is also worth mentioning that an isolated tornado is not out of the question.  With the latest data suggesting a tightening low advancing across the region tonight, we can’t rule it out.  Total rain amounts should range from .50 – 2+”.  Pack the rain gear if you’re attending high school football games tonight!  Follow the precip with the radar below:

Saturday – Lingering AM Showers/Storms, Gradual Clearing – High 74

Leftover moisture will pester us through the early morning hours of our Saturday, with gradual clearing forecast throughout the day.  This is good news for all of you faithful tailgaters out there.  The NAM HiRes simulated radar continues to suggest the rain will be well to our east by 1pm tomorrow afternoon:

If you plan on being out super early…pack a rain jacket, just in case.  For those attending the WKU vs Morgan State game, pack a hoodie.  Kickoff temps will be in the lower 70s, with values slipping to the lower 60s by the end of the game.  Give thanks to the cooler, drier airmass that will infiltrate our proximity behind the cold front.

Sunday – Sunny & NICE – High 73

High pressure will take control over the area, with nothing but sunshine expected.  Stellar conditions will be rounded off by our temperatures, which will be limited to the lower – mid 70s across the region. Similar conditions will accompany us through the start of the work week, which should put a smile on everyone’s face.

That’s all I’ve got, gang.  I’ll be back if I feel it’s necessary.  Stay in touch with me via Twitter and Facebook for more frequent information.  Have a weekend, and thanks for reading!
