Timing

We know when it comes to severe weather timing is critical. Expect non-severe rounds of showers throughout early this afternoon. Behind this first round of showers will be gusty winds during the daytime. Then, multiple rounds of severe weather is possible this evening into the overnight hours. The front should start moving in around 7pm, this is where we will start to see the showers and thunderstorms pop up. As of right now, the possibility for severe weather could take place anywhere from 8pm – 1am.

Keep in mind, depending on how fast this storm system continues to move, the timing could be shifted. This wet system should move out of the area by early Thursday morning.

Looking at current model data and radar, we can see there is line of strong to severe storms sitting along a cold front edging its way into our region. Mid afternoon an upper level system will gradually move into the area due to strong wind shear. The main threats we could see develop is the potential for damaging straight line winds, hail, and isolated embedded tornadoes. Also, stay aware of localized flooding in certain areas.
