It’s been a mostly quiet week around south-central Kentucky but things will soon come to an end as we can expect an unsettled weekend on the way.
Gloom Takes Over Friday
The positive is that it’s Friday and the weekend is just a few short hours away…the negative is that we have to spend this day socked in with clouds and showers.
It’s all associated with a storm system that started to impact the region last night and is making it’s closing arguments out there this morning.
We’ll see the chance for showers begin to dwindle as we go through the mid-morning and into the afternoon, settling in to yet another day of overcast…but on the plus side, it will be warm!
Highs this afternoon will stay slightly cooler, only finishing around 65º…but hey, it’s better than winter cold! Clouds will attempt to clear out a bit overnight, leaving us with an overnight low near 50º.
Wonderful Spring Saturday
Quintessential Springtime weather visits us for the day on Saturday with warm and sunny conditions during the daylight hours. Perfect for, say, going to a baseball game.
Partly sunny skies with light south breezes will punctuate a mostly wonderful Saturday, highs top out near the 75º mark. It’s Saturday night when things start to take a turn for the soggy.
Showers will make a return to the forecast on Saturday night as things become unsettled and will remain that way for the rest of the weekend. Lows stay mild, right near 60º.
Storms Return Sunday
Our Saturday night weather system will be the dominant weathermaker to close out the first weekend of April. With not just showers in the offering, but thunderstorms possible as well.
The current thinking is that showers will be leaving the area during the morning hours on Sunday, and we’ll see a break. This break, combined with southwesterly winds, will push the thermometers close to the 80º mark during Sunday afternoon. The question becomes, how much instability will we have?
The more instability we have, the greater our chances for thunderstorms…and perhaps a strong storm or two. If we don’t have as much instability, we could still see some showers, but the rain likely won’t be as heavy. We’ll certainly be keeping an eye on it. Either way, Sunday night remains mild, with lows close to 60º yet again.
Soggy Start to the Week
Things stay unsettled headed into next week as multiple disturbances continue to pass through the area, each providing their own threat of showers and storms. Highs stay above average, with afternoon temperatures topping out near 75º and overnight lows into the 50s.
