Good Sunday morning, everyone! What a change we’ve seen here within the past 48 hours with the mugginess in the air. Unfortunately, this is only the beginning as the weather gods continue cranking up the heat and humidity.
Uncomfortable Air Today with Rain Chances
Conditions today will be partly cloudy with some spotty rain chances in the afternoon due to dew point values finding themselves in the high 70s. Translation: the air will feel almost unbearably uncomfortable today. What we do see for rain, will be nothing significant with totals around a tenth of an inch.
However, what will be significant is just how hot it will get today. Folks, we have some dangerous heat setting in here and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. Today, expect the air temperature to reach the mid 90s. Because of our dew point temperature being in the high 70s though, the heat index will climb to about 105 degrees. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that’s HOT.
When outdoors, be sure to limit sun exposure, drink plenty of water, and spend an appropriate amount of time in the AC.
No Escape From the Heat in Sight
Headed into the final week of July, there looks to be no relief from the heat in sight. In fact, we haven’t even experienced the worst of it yet. The worst of this so-called “heat wave” looks like it will impact the middle part of the week around Wednesday/ Thursday. Stay tuned leading up to then as I wouldn’t be surprised if the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for this area.
Up until the middle of the week though, you can expect conditions to be much like today with humidity through the roof, partly sunny conditions, and scattered rain and thunderstorms.
That’s all for today! Be sure to follow our live weather feed on Twitter, @wxornotBG, and also on our other social media platforms. Have a great week and stay cool!
