Storms and Gloom Persist

Top of the morning, everyone, and happy Saturday. Things have been a little bit wetter around here lately but we are actually in need of some wet weather. For your Saturday, expect the storms and gloom to persist.

Slight Severe Risk Today

A low-pressure center over Illinois is to thank for all of this active/interesting weather, bringing us multiple rounds of rain and storms as it propagates towards the region.

Surface Map shows a stationary boundary just north of us putting the region in the warm sector out ahead of a cold front which is bringing us storms. (wpc)

Today, expect a round of storms to move through this morning and then mostly cloudy conditions to dominate the better part of the day with a high of 88 degrees. Starting into the late afternoon and going through the overnight, most of WABBLES finds itself at a slight risk to see severe weather move through.

Updated severe outlook shows much of WABBLES at a slight risk to see severe weather. (spc)

The biggest threats include locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and dangerous lightning. With this being said, have more than one way to receive weather alerts during the overnight hours.

Storms and Rain Continue Tomorrow

Scattered showers and storms continue throughout the day tomorrow but it’s not shaping out to be a complete washout, nor do we have much in the way of severe weather to worry about. I think heavy downpours and flash flooding remains the biggest threats if you do catch yourself in a storm. Otherwise, expect conditions to be mostly to partly cloudy with a high of 85 degrees.

Folks could see some peaks of sunshine in the late afternoon on Sunday. (Pivotal Weather)

This trend of stormy weather takes us into the start of the work week. Again, while this might not be appealing on paper, it is summer after all and a little rain every once in awhile is actually a good thing!
