Upcoming Showers Pose Threat for Isolated Flash Flooding

Good morning to you! We hope that you are up and ready for the day! If not, we understand, because the chances of precipitation can be discouraging. But, worry not, as these will be out of the forecast for the holiday weekend. So, a dreary, wet work week in exchange for a dry, sunny weekend?

Us, at mother nature…(GIPHY)

Rain, Rain, Go Away (Spoiler: It Will)

For today and tomorrow, the presence of elongated areas of low pressure (troughs) ahead of a cold front will keep both showers and storms in the forecast. We may see these start up in the late morning, but chances will turn scattered by the afternoon, remaining possible until the evening. As for tomorrow, chances will be widespread for the entirety of the day.

Convective outlook for Wednesday at 7am to Thursday at 7am (Storm Prediction Center)

Our main concern will be potential excessive rainfall, especially with the anticipated soaker tomorrow afternoon. That means that there is potential for isolated significant flash flooding, especially in vulnerable areas that are close to streams or other bodies of water. Be sure to drive with caution tomorrow evening, considering this threat will be more prominent then.

Excessive rainfall outlook for Thursday (Weather Prediction Center)

As always, oppressive humidity will accompany these chances of precipitation. Today will be miserable, but tomorrow will be more bearable, as our high temperatures will be on the decline, lowering the heat index. If you plan to be out and about, make sure to stay hydrated.

Decreasing Clouds Friday Leads to Sunny Weekend

Folks, all I can say is that you couldn’t ask for a better holiday weekend forecast. Once that cold front moves out of our region, we will once more have high pressure influencing our weather. On Friday, clouds will gradually decrease throughout the day, being the transition from wet to dry conditions.

For Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, we will have low humidity and temperatures that are below average. Our high’s will remain in the lower 80’s and our low’s will linger around the 60’s. On the other hand, UV indices will be very high, so take precautions by having sunblock (SPF 15+) and protective clothing and accessories on hand.
