Humidity Takes a Break this Coming Week

Good Sunday morning, WABBLES! The heat and humidity have been very impressive for early June with afternoon highs in the mid-90s and heat indices in the low 100s! We have one more day of oppressive heat before a cold front brings us much-needed relief this coming week.

At this point, I just want the heat to stop.(Giphy)

Today

Right now as of 6:00am this morning we have a weak storm that is over eastern portions of Logan county and moving south. Isolated storms will be possible today, but most folks are expected to stay dry.

Radar as of 6am this morning.

A cold front that is moving through today will allow for a few of these isolated storms to develop. The greatest chances will be to our south and east of WABBLES. Here is how future radar sees it this afternoon.

Rain chances will be in the 20-30% range with the best timing between 1-9pm this afternoon/evening. The big story though is going to be these temperatures we have to deal with this afternoon. Highs in the mid-90s are expected again across the region.

The other concern is going to be the heat index this afternoon. Oppresssive dewpoints will allow for the heat index to reach into the low-100s today. Remember to practice heat safety and avoid long periods of time under the sun this afternoon. Here is some valuable information below from our friends at the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will relax overnight after the cold front passes and we should be looking at a much more comfortable week ahead.

This Coming Week

Heading into this week the cold front is going to give us relief from the humidity across the entire Ohio Valley. Here is a forecast loop of the dewpoints through Wednesday and you can see the highest values get pushed southward.

Highs on Monday will be be in the upper-80s and still a bit humid, but by the time Tuesday and Wednesday rule around it is going to feel like spring once again. Here are Tuesday’s forecast highs.

Take a look again at these low dew-points on Tuesday that only make into the upper-50s unlike the mid-70s. It is going to be nice folks!

We look to stay dry through most of the week with comfortable temperatures. By Friday, another cold front will be sweeping in from the north and we will have to monitor shower and thunderstorm chances once again. Too early for specifics, but we will be monitoring the forecast closely.

A nice cool down will come once again late next weekend.
