Rainy Day Gives Way to Quieter Weekend

Good Morning Everyone! I hope you all have had a great week so far and enjoyed that bit of sunshine yesterday. There are lots to talk about this morning, starting off with a rainy day today.

Today

Starting off with today is that rain I just mentioned, you can expect to see the bulk of the rain move into WABBLES by late morning to early afternoon. This will be quite the soaker with it lasting all throughout the day and into tonight.

As far as temperatures go, it’s already about 28-30° around WABBLES at the time of writing this. We will warm up quite a bit actually with some areas reaching 50° today. The rain today is associated with a cold front, however, so temps will fall overnight and into tomorrow morning. It could also get pretty windy and breezy today with the rain and cold front passage. Gusts upwards of 20-25 mph are on the table and very possible.

Friday

Tomorrow starts off very cold in the morning with some gradual warming up to about the lower 40s. Winds look to remain from yesterday, just not as strong, so that will likely make it feel a bit colder than it actually is. There won’t be any rain tomorrow, but we will have the chance to see on and off clouds throughout the day. Overall, it will be a pretty slow day in terms of weather.

This Weekend

This is where things get to be a bit interesting with the weather. We have an arctic cold front that will be dumping cold air all across the Midwest. Models have been scaling back the intensity of this cold quite a bit compared to what they were initially suggesting earlier this week.

The core of that frigid air looks to stay well north of Kentucky and should only bring temperatures down to only about 30° or so. So, this may be an arctic front, but temperatures won’t get to be frigid like areas far northwest. In fact, temperatures during the day Saturday could get to be in the mid-40s and lower 50s Sunday.

As far as precipitation and cloud cover goes this weekend, we should remain fairly dry with some slight chances of rain as the first wave of the arctic front moves in Saturday Night. Other than that, however, we should be dry for the weekend. Clouds will also dominate most of the day Saturday with breaks in the clouds Sunday.
