Split Weather Day Ahead

Good Saturday, everyone! I hope everyone had a great week and is ready for the weekend. We are officially less than two weeks away from Christmas, woohoo! Today’s weather won’t exactly feel like Christmas quite yet as we have a split weather day ahead with many elements to discuss.

What to Expect Today

As you’ve woken up, made your cup of joe, and looked outside, I’m sure you’ve noticed how wet it looks. This dreariness will most definitely not last all day, so don’t start changing your plans yet.

The rain actually becomes more and more scattered before completely moving out of the region by late morning and no later than lunch time. Total accumulation of precipitation will be around a quarter of an inch.

By the afternoon, skies will clear, and we will actually see mostly sunny skies with a high in the low 60’s. However, with a strong cold front nearing, it will be a pretty windy day today making the temperature feel a bit cooler.

Sustained winds will be around 15mph with wind gusts over 30mph possible. Temperatures will really begin to drop off when the cold front moves through around 6pm tonight. I’m talking a drop off of about 20 degrees.

Many folks will be in the low 40s by about 9pm tonight as a result of the passing cold front. The temperature won’t drop too much from there though as we dip to about the upper 30s under mostly cloudy conditions.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

On Sunday, expect the mostly cloudy skies to stick around from the overnight. Temperatures will reach about 50 degrees so overall, it will be a nice day.

Another system moves through Sunday night bringing the region rain/slushy snow mix. A cold front will move through once more associated with it dropping the temperatures once more. We will have more on the details of this system tomorrow.

That’s all for today! Thanks for reading and be sure to follow our live weather feed on Twitter, @weatherornotBG, and also on Instagram and Facebook. Have a great weekend!
