Welcome to Monday, everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend with plenty of Thanksgiving leftovers. The weather must’ve known Thanksgiving is over, because the first taste of winter arrives today!
Snow Flurries Fly This Morning
The overnight hours featured plenty of rain, with totals this morning accumulating to around three-quarters of an inch. However, much colder air at the surface and aloft will help leftover rain showers transition to snow flurries this morning.
However, accumulation is very unlikely. Despite this, be cautious on roads without a lot of traffic. Some slicker spots could be possible. Snowfall looks to end during the afternoon hours, but windy conditions will persist with winds gusting to near 30 mph. High temps today will only reach the upper 30’s, but wind chills will feel more like the 20’s.
If you think this seems early for snowfall, we’re actually right on time! The average date for Bowling Green’s first trace of snow is November 29th. This graphic from NWS Louisville shows some other “firsts” for snowfall.
Colder Air Slow to Leave
Overnight lows Monday night dip into the cold low 20’s before rebounding to around 40° on Tuesday. Much sunnier conditions will grace our skies, however, giving us a break from the clouds. Similar conditions will be with us for Wednesday with more sunny skies and cool temps around 50°.
Cooler air will stick around through the end of the week, with a second chance for some rain and snow showers coming Thursday into Thursday night. Stay tuned for details as we get closer to that timeframe!
