First Flakes of the Season Likely Tomorrow!

Happy Sunday morning, Bowling Green! The big story is by-far the chance of snow showers tomorrow, but there is a significant cool-down to follow for the next several days.

Rain This Evening/Overnight…

After waking to temperatures right around freezing (32F) this morning, temperatures will rise modestly throughout the day. Clouds build into the afternoon ahead of rain that moves in by the evening hours. Afternoon highs should top out in the upper 50s – but don’t be fooled, temperatures will soon tumble!

Rain will overspread the area into the overnight, as temperatures begin to fall early Monday morning.

The Changeover Early Monday

As rain progresses through Sunday night, a changeover to a light wintry mix, and eventually snow will occur in the early morning hours Monday. Temperatures will be crucial in determining how much snow will ultimately fall.

If temperatures fall earlier than expected, more snow could accumulated than forecasted. The contrary can happen as well, resulting in less snow. Truthfully, models don’t always handle these situations the best, so timing of the changeover from rain to snow will be crucial to the overall outcome of the event. In general, light accumulations of about one-half inch are expected.

Temperatures will be below freezing for most of the day on Monday, only managing to make it to a meager 37-38 degrees for an afternoon high.

Snow Showers Possible Monday Night

Steady snow in the mid-day hours on Monday will gradually taper, however, scattered snow showers may persist off and on throughout the evening. These snow showers could result in an additional dusting of snow, but most, if any real accumulations will occur earlier in the day.

SNOW TOTALS (ENDING MONDAY LATE PM): As of this morning, forecast snow amounts are generally 0.5″ – 1″, with isolated higher totals possible (especially north & east of W.A.B.B.L.E.S.).

Chilly Tuesday to Follow…

After the snow showers have fallen, we will arise to some of the coldest air of the season Tuesday morning. Lows will have tumbled down into the mid-20s, with patchy clouds giving way to mostly sunny skies by the afternoon. Things stay chilly though, with afternoon highs only managing to top out in the upper 30s across the area.
