Good morning. Kentucky! We hope you are having a great start to your week so far. After a soggy weekend and a relatively warm Monday. We are getting ready for dry conditions as beautiful weather arrives.
It is a cool start to the morning after a cold front blasted through last night. Current temperatures are in the low-mid 40s with relatively calm winds, especially across Western Kentucky.
If we take a look at satellite imagery, you will notice the drier air punching in behind the front. High pressure is starting to take over and that won’t be something to complain about for the coming days.
Great Weather for First Half of Week
You honestly do not get much better than today’s forecast across our area. What makes a perfect weather day you ask? Well, here are some key factors below.
The cold front that moved through yesterday brought much drier air into the region. Dew points are well below 60 degrees which is more than ideal with little humidity.
Winds stay relatively calm only increasing to 5mph this afternoon. Skies stay mostly sunny throughout the day with temperatures reaching 70 degrees this afternoon. Get outside and enjoy it!
Wednesday
High pressure will continue to dominate into Wednesday keeping calm conditions around. We see our temperatures jump into the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies.
A forecast of few words usually means it is going to be quiet. That is the case through Wednesday, but we eye another cold front come Thursday.
Cold Blast Late this Week
We are eying a very amplified pattern late this week with a large trough digging into the Eastern United States. This will bring cold Canadian air surging down into the lower 48 this weekend.
A strong cold front will blast cooler air into the the Ohio valley come Thursday. Highs in the 60s are looking more likely into the weekend.
Looking at some of the temperature trends you will notice some of the morning lows into the 30s. Frost is certainly a possibility come this weekend and will have to be monitored. The National Weather Service will issue frost advisories if such risk arises.
