Good morning, South-Central Kentucky! I hope everyone has enjoyed their week so far. After a hot day yesterday, the chance for storms is once again in the picture as we approach the upcoming weekend.
Strong Storms Possible Thursday…
Today will yet again prove to be miserably hot and humid, with a chance for scattered storms in the evening hours. Highs will top out in the low 90s across W.A.B.B.L.E.S. after a gradual climb out of the middle 70s this morning. Thursday also features the chance for a few isolated stronger storms. The Storm Prediction Center has placed almost all of our counties in a Marginal Risk for severe storms today. The primary threats with these storms include isolated damaging wind gusts and some small hail. The tornado threat on the other hand is very low.
Friday looks wetter…
Things look modestly wet to wrap up the workweek. Showers and thunderstorms are more likely on Friday, however will not be around all day long. The greatest chance will be later in the business day, and appear more likely in our southernmost communities. Highs across W.A.B.B.L.E.S. will be in the lower 90s.
More of the same this weekend…
That’s right, rain and storm chances will persist into the weekend. Sorry folks! This is a very typical summertime pattern though, especially in the southern U.S. Lows in the 70s generally will lead to highs topping out at or around 90 degrees each day. Storms are most likely on Friday, but none of these days should be a ‘washout’. Hey, on the bright side, anyone who finds themselves under one of these afternoon popups will get a nice cool-down, so there’s that bit of good news!
