Rainfall Stats Update

This month has been well below average with rainfall. We are currently 1.97in below normal for the month of May with 3.22in of rain total. We are sitting well above normal for rain since the beginning of the year. Currently at 26.67in of rain which is 5.26 above normal on the year.

If you remember, last year we had well above average rainfall till July, but then quickly dried up from July to October going into drought conditions. You never know how quickly a pattern can change over the year! We will take the rainfall when we can, but hopefully never too much!

Scattered Storms Today

A cold front attached to a weak surface low well to our north is going to move through later today. Look at the dry air on satellite behind the cold front, this will be moving our way just in time for the weekend. The white streaks is where we have some precipitation ahead of the cold front. We will see some storms develop today ahead of the front over our area.

The last few days have featured the classic afternoon pop up showers and storms. We will have another chance today as a cold front will help ignite a few of these storms over the area.

We are not expecting any severe weather today, but a few storms may feature gusty winds and heavy rain. Temperatures today will make it into the upper 70s. Storms will move out or decay after the sun goes down as we begin to dry out. Temperatures fall to the mid 50s later tonight.
