Cold Shot to Accompany Rain Chances Later this Week

Good morning everyone, and welcome to Thursday! For early May, it’s definitely a little cold. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it will get colder. A cold shot is set to accompany rain chances later this week.

Decent Day Today

Before we experience the rain and potential frost (!), we’ll actually have a decent day in store for today. Winds will die down today and we’ll warm up to near 70°.

Skies also remain mostly sunny ahead of the next low pressure system set to move in during the overnight hours. Lows Thursday night will stay away from the freezing line at around 50°, and we can expect some showers to move in after midnight.

Dreary Friday

The rain will continue into the day Friday, especially for the morning hours. Right now, forecasted totals are adding up to around 1″ of rain for most of the area by the time it’s over.

Temperatures cool substantially, however, dropping into the upper 50’s for highs. It will also get windy again as the low tracks to the east. Winds around 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph are possible.

Friday night is when the real cold arrives. Right now forecasted lows are in the low 30’s, which will bring some potential issues with frost. Any sensitive vegetation should be brought in or covered!

Sun Returns for the New Week

After we get our round of May showers, the sun is expected to return for the rest of the weekend and into the new week! It will be a little chilly again on Saturday, with highs near 60°. At least the sun will be out!

We’ll have another chance for some areas of frost come Saturday night as well, so keep those plants protected if you can. After that, we should start a warming trend that will bring us more comfortable temperatures and no frost.

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Enjoy the sunshine!
