Weekend Starts and Ends with Showers

It’s been a pretty chilly but quiet week around WABBLES, especially for April. The good news is that we’ve got warmer weather to start the weekend…the bad news is that cooler weather arrives quickly as the weekend starts and ends with showers.

Rain Chances Increase Late Friday

We’ll start Friday off on a slightly milder note, as southwesterly winds bring in slightly milder conditions ahead of a low pressure system and attendant cold front.

And you know when we say words like “cold front” and “low pressure”, there’s bound to be precipitation involved and today is no different…though we’ll have to wait a little bit for the rain to arrive. Nonetheless, it will be quite windy as the low pressure approaches, with gusts 30-40 MPH not out of the question.

The good news about the rain holding off until the afternoon is that we’ll be able to get a little milder with our afternoon highs, which will linger around 70°. Only thing if we can get the clouds in here a little sooner that may suppress those highs a little bit. Showers continue overnight, leaving us with a low near 40°.

Drying Out For Saturday

Saturday is undoubtedly the pick of the weekend as dry skies make a brief return.

Clouds will be on the decrease as the cold front ushers in cooler conditions during the day…but at least we’ll see the sun return!

The cold front will have passed the area, though, and this means we will have brought in a slightly cooler airmass as highs only end up near about 60°. So if you’re doing yard work, taking a walk…or just relaxing outside, remember to grab the hoodie or windbreaker.

Clouds start to filter back in Saturday night ahead of Sunday’s system…lows only fall to about 45°.

More Showers on Sunday

Another weather system will make a swing by the region on Sunday and while it means some more rain for us, it unfortunately means more severe weather for areas in the deep south that were hit hard by severe weather last week.

The strengthening low pressure center associated with this action will remain to our south and will throw some showers our way as the main low’s cold front will try to sweep through the region…keeping it soggy.

We’ll get some rebound in temperatures out of this as highs look to be back up near 65°, falling to about 40° overnight as showers slowly come to an end.

Week Ahead: Warmer and Drier to Start

We’ll bring the sunshine back to the forecast for Monday as highs stick around 65°, only to be done better on Tuesday as sunshine stays with us and highs end up closer to normal at 70°. Our next rain chance comes with a bit stronger system that looks to bring rain to the Wednesday-Thursday time frame, though highs stay mild.
