We Finally Have Some Quiet Weather

Well folks, while we’ve all been cooped up in our homes, we’ve had some gloomy weather the past few days. With multiple rounds of rain yesterday, we received 0.24 inches of rain, bringing our monthly total for March up to 7.04 inches, and 17.92 inches since January 1. We are a whopping 7 inches above normal for the first 85 days of 2020. But luckily, clouds will be decreasing today as we finally have some quiet weather.

Seasonal Temperatures Today

The low pressure system that brought rain yesterday and severe weather to our south has now moved well off to our east, and we have a break in the active pattern. Clouds will be decreasing today, so we could finally see some of that blue sky and sunshine.

Wednesday Weather Outlook

Our high temperature for today is 66ºF, which is seasonal for this time of March. Winds will remain calm today, and with better chances of seeing some sun this afternoon, today won’t be a bad day to walk around your yard or the neighborhood. We could all use some sunshine and fresh air, just remember to practice social distancing! 😊

Skies will continue to clear up by the evening and nighttime hours. We should be on the lookout for a nice sunset tonight! Partly cloudy skies tonight with temperatures bottoming out around 47ºF will make for a pleasant night.

Warming Up for Thursday

As another low pressure system approaches, our winds turn to come from the south. With winds of 5-15 mph, warmer air from the southern US and Gulf of Mexico will be transported into our neck of the woods.

With these south winds, and mostly sunny skies, we can expect our temperatures to reach 76ºF. Seasonal highs for this time of March is around 63ºF, so we will be much warmer!

The sunny skies will be a nice addition to the quiet weather, but it won’t last long. Another rain-making system will be approaching by tomorrow night and Friday morning. Clouds overtake our sky cover for the evening hours, before small rain chances arrive. Our low temperature is expected to be 62ºF, which again, is the normal high for this time of year.

Rain Chances for Friday

There is still some data disagreement regarding rain chances for Friday, but there definitely looks to be a chance. The GFS model brings rain showers into KY by the early morning hours, and continues throughout the day. Other models hint at keeping us dry. Today and tomorrow’s data runs will help get a better idea for Friday.

Regardless of the rain, the models have been hinting at well above normal temperatures for Friday since last weekend. We can expect a high temperature near 80ºF! We haven’t been 80ºF or warmer since October 11, 2019.
