Sunny Wednesday Before Rain Returns

This week has started off with some very unsettling and dangerous weather, with large hail, and some Flash Flooding. One particular storm produced a brief but strong tornado in SE Warren County, crossing over into Allen County just after midnight on Tuesday morning. Luckily, quiet weather is here, as we can expect a sunny Wednesday before rain chances return.

Much Needed Calm

High pressure has quickly moved, which led to sunny conditions yesterday. These conditions will continue today, but clouds will be increasing later on.

Afternoon temperatures will reach a pleasant 62ºF, which is slightly above normal for early March. Normal high temperatures are around 55ºF for Bowling Green. Breezy conditions will also be present today, with winds at 15 mph, and gusts up to 25 mph out of the south.

Clouds will be on the increase during the evening hours, as our next small rain chances loom closer to WABBLES. We stay dry tonight, and winds should be much calmer. Expect temperatures to dip down to around 40ºF.

Cloudy Thursday

A low pressure system will be moving across the southeastern US, which will bring a small chance of rain northward into Kentucky. Most guidance keeps us dry for Thursday, but can’t completely rule out seeing some sprinkles. Thinking from the National Weather Service agrees:

The aforementioned southern stream low, while holding more significant moisture, will remain well enough to our south that only a slight chance mention of rain showers across the southern half of KY is forecasted for Thursday. Model soundings show a massive dry layer in the mid-levels, indicative of higher probability of VIRGA than actual rain at the surface.

The NAM guidance does hint at some precipitation making its way north of the KY/TN border, but the dry air in the atmosphere should keep us dry at the surface.

Otherwise, we stay above normal with temperatures around 61ºF for another day. Clouds move out of the area during the evening hours, leading to mostly clear skies for the overnight hours. Low temperatures will be near 36ºF.

Sunny Friday

Sunshine will quickly return for us to finish the work week on a good note. Calm conditions will be present as temperatures rise to around 49ºF for a high.

Forecast high temperatures for Friday. (Pivotal Weather)

We stay clear for Friday night as temperatures dip to a chilly 28ºF. We stay dry and sunny for the weekend, which is something all of us can look forward to. Rain chances return next week.

Don’t Forget to Spring Forward

Don’t forget to set your clocks 1 hour ahead before bed on Saturday. After the active weather, this would be a good opportunity to check the batteries of your smoke detectors, weather radios, and flash lights.

Don’t forget to change your clocks this weekend.

That wraps up today’s forecast. Hope you have a great Wednesday! Make sure to look for the Afternoon Video Update on Facebook and the Afternoon Weather Story on Twitter, only at @wxornotBG.
