Wet Finale for February

Good morning, everyone! As we approach the final week of the month and enter into March, many are probably eager about the arrival of soon-to-be spring. While it’s not here quite yet, what is on its way for the week is a number of rainy days making for a wet finale for February….sounding similar to those spring-time showers that are right around the corner.

Dry End to the Weekend

Today, we will remain dry making for a pretty decent weekend for WABBLES. The presence of clouds will increase as we head throughout the day. No need to worry though. The rain should hold off until the evening/overnight hours. Temperatures today will climb to a mild 56 degrees.

As I mentioned, our next frontal system will begin making its way through the region tonight. We can expect rain to start falling right around midnight and continue into Monday. Winds will be out of the South and the low will dip to around 41 degrees.

Monday Soaker

That system overnight will continue into the day on Monday. The rain will dominate throughout most of the day so be prepared to have an umbrella and rain jacket handy. The SPC has us as an area likely to hear thunder Monday. Expect the rain to be widespread and moderately heavy at times. Wind gusts with the system could reach 24mph with the high temp reaching 54 degrees.

Bowling Green is well into the region highlighted as likely to hear thunder on Monday. (spc)

Monday night, the rain should begin to taper off. In the evening, showers will be spotty and I’m thinking the region should be dry by midnight. The low will drop to about 49 degrees. Models are showing about an inch of rain accumulation from the start of the system Sunday night to its departure on Monday night.

An inch of rain expected from Monday’s system. (Pivotal Weather)

Tuesday Breather Before More Rain Returns

Tuesday holds a slight chance for showers and maybe a few rumbles of thunder here and there, but otherwise, mostly cloudy. I’m thinking it will serve as a breather before our next system moves in Wednesday. The high will reach 52 degrees but drop throughout the day.

The high of 52 degrees actually occurs at midnight on Tuesday and decreases from there. (Pivotal Weather)

Tuesday night, we will stay dry before midnight and then the rain moves back into the WABBLES region. Wednesday, we will see off and on showers and then Wednesday night may present itself as a wintry mix situation as temperatures plummet.

I think that wraps things up! Thanks for reading and be sure to follow or live twitter feed @wxornotBG for all of your weather updates!
