Quiet Weekend Continues, Rain Returns Sunday

We’re waking up to cold temps this morning but fortunately we’ll see things quickly improve as quiet weekend continues. We’ve got sunny skies locked in and southerly flow in place with high-pressure sliding off to our East and this will bring in warmer air. That should be enough to get us to 50 degrees today. That’s a welcome sight after many recent Saturdays with rainfall being the main story.

Temps will quickly fall again after dark tonight as strong cooling takes place under mostly clear skies and the WABBLES region will see temperatures right around the freezing mark for the overnight low.

Our next notable system will begin to influence the area as well and cloud cover will slowly increase overnight Sunday.

Sunday morning starts of cold but again we will see temperatures quickly warm under southerly flow. Highs for Sunday will be in the mid 50s.

Clouds will continue to increase Sunday as the next system moves into the region but any rainfall should hold off during the day. As nightfall sets in rain will spread across central Kentucky however. This will be the theme coming out of the weekend into next week. Overnight lows Sunday will be in the low 40s.

Mild temperatures will remain throughout the first half of next week. Rain will linger Monday with highs once again in the mid 50s. There doesn’t look to be any flood threat with this system since it isn’t quite as heavy as recent rain events so that’s certainly a bright side.

Monday night will be breezy and lows will be in the upper 40s.

Rain will continue through the night Monday but should taper off a bit for Tuesday after the early morning. Clouds will remain Tuesday afternoon but mild temperatures will remain, again in the mid 50s.

Rain will kickoff again Tuesday night with lows falling to near 40 degrees.

A temporary break in rain is expected Tuesday afternoon (COD Nexlab)

Wednesday will see rain continue throughout the day. The arrival of a frontal system will change things a bit though and highs will top out in the mid 40s. Wednesday night is still uncertain at this time, however temperatures will fall into the 20s and there should be enough remnant moisture to change over to snow. For now it looks like any accumulation will be minor, perhaps an inch for some, but it is worth watching and we will keep you updated.

A transition to snow is expected on the backside of the next system but the details aren’t certain yet (COD Nexlab)

For now though, enjoy the milder conditions and clear skies, WABBLES.
