Happy Saturday! We have finally caught a break from the seemingly endless rain but wow has it been cold. WABBLES temperatures are in the low-mid teens as we wake up this morning. Fortunately clear skies and breezy southerly flow will lead to a weekend warmup. Temps will return back to normal today and we will see highs in the upper 40s. That’s a scorcher compared to the 10-15° we have been dealing with.
Wind gusts today will be in the 20-25mph range as we find ourselves in between weather systems. As evening rolls around expect to see temperatures fall to the mid 30s with increasing cloud cover overnight. Yes temps should actually stay above freezing tonight!
Sunday
WABBLES will wake to temps in the mid 30s Sunday morning. There is a slight chance for light rain showers (surprise) Sunday morning as well due to increasing moisture although they should be scattered and not amount to much. With southerly flow remaining across Kentucky expect to see temps once again in the mid-upper 40s. Nightfall will bring a drop to mid 30s Sunday.
Monday
The weekend warmup continues into next week and peaks on Washington’s birthday. A low-pressure system will be crossing the midwest and an associated frontal boundary will make its way through the Ohio Valley. As it approaches during the day on Monday warmer air will surge into Kentucky and we will see temperatures as high as the upper 50s! Unfortunately this system will be accompanied by more rain which is not ideal right now. The good news is that this rain is not expected to be as significant as recent rains. Somewhere around a 1/4″ is likely.
Temperatures Monday night will actually stay in the mid 40s.
Tuesday
Rain and clouds continue Tuesday as the cold front gets through the area. We will actually see temperatures reach the 50s Tuesday morning but the cold front will pass and we will see a fall in temps throughout the afternoon, eventually reaching the freezing mark overnight. It is possible that some snowflakes mix in late Tuesday as the colder air works into the backside of the rain but no accumulation is expected.
Wednesday
Clearing skies return Wedneday in the wake of the cold front that passed and weather will be rather quiet again. Partly sunny skies will allow for temps to perhaps reach the 40s during the day. By nightfall clouds will return and temperatures will again be in the 20s.
