Hello and good morning everyone! If you happen to live under a rock and you’re not aware, today is very big day. Not only is it the Super Bowl, but it’s also Groundhogs Day! There are a lot of reasons to be excited for the day and the weather is one of them. I’ve got everything you need to know below about today being a super Sunday followed by not-so-super rain.

A Super Groundhogs Bowl Day

Folks, today is shaping up to be a very pleasant day so be sure to take advantage of it. Go out and play football or spot the local groundhogs in honor of the day!

Clouds moved out of the region overnight making room for clear skies today. We’ll see lot’s of sun accompanied by mild temperatures with the high reaching around 60 degrees. It’ll also be a breezy day with winds out of the southwest, so just something to keep in mind.

Tonight we will see clear skies and temperatures in the low 40s.

Soggy Start to the Week

I hope you really do take in the nice weather because much of the week is looking to be wet. An upper-level trough will make it’s way toward the region Monday bringing with it increasing clouds and some rain. The rain will begin late afternoon Monday and it will be a bit breezy. On the bright side, the temperature will be around a very mild 66 degrees.

The NAM shows showers moving into the region about 4pm on Monday. (Pivotal Weather)

The rain will continue throughout the overnight hours with the chance of a thunderstrom and the low will reach about 54 degrees.

A Look Ahead

The rain sticks around for most of the week with the arrival of a cold front. Precipitation chances should start to move out by Wednesday night. Temperatures will still be relatively mild for this time of the year as they top off in the upper 50s.

About 2.3 inches of rain is expected for the WABBLES region by Thursday. (Pivotal Weather)

Well, that’s just about it! I hope everyone has a great Super Bowl Sunday and a fantastic Groundhogs Day (best day ever!!!). To stay up to date with the rain and other weather events, be sure to follow @wxornotBG on twitter. Have a great week!
