A Gloomy Finish to January

Good morning, everyone! We are entering the final week of the first month of 2020. Transitioning into February, it’s not looking like we will see much in the way of sunshine, but rather gray skies as models are predicting a gloomy finish to January.

Same Ole, Same Ole

The next few days, WABBLES will experience a monotonous weather pattern consisting of mostly cloudy skies, mid 40s temperatures, and few precipitation chances. Our greatest chance to see rain is today. Even at that, the precipitation will be light, scattered rain showers, so it is nothing of concern. The high will be around 47 degrees with winds out of the southwest. As we enter the night time hours, rain chances increase but will diminish after midnight. The over night low will dip down to about 38 degrees.

The NAM shows much of Kentucky being dominated by cloud cover at 4pm.

Monday

To your surprise (not), the region will see mostly cloudy skies on Monday. There will be a few peaks of sunshine here and there but overall, there is not a lot to look forward to weather-wise on this day, or in the days to come. But hey, at least temperatures are above freezing and are decently bearable. The high will climb to about 48 degrees with winds out of the northwest. The night time low will be 31 degrees.

The WABBLES region is expected to have above normal temperatures for this time of the year through February 8th.

Looking Forward

Past the 48 hour forecast, we can expect to see mostly cloudy skies…again. The high temperature for Tuesday will reach 44 degrees with the low reaching 33 degrees. Clouds will become a bit thicker Tuesday night. As we look out into the mid to late week, a low-pressure system will move through bringing with it the chance of a wintry mix.

The question many of us have as we wonder if the sun still exists.
