Welcome everyone! Glad you could stop by this morning. Weather-wise, it’s been feeling more like spring. That looks to finally change, though, as more seasonal weather moves in and it starts to actually feel like January!
High Pressure Keeps Us Dry Today
A high pressure currently sitting in the Upper Midwest is strong enough to have influence over our area. This means that we will be staying dry today with only some high clouds passing by. Therefore, expect partly cloudy skies today.
Temperatures also cool off into the mid 40’s for the high, which is much more seasonable. Winds could get a little gusty today, too, near 25 mph. Once the sun goes down, we’ll drop into the chilly upper 20’s.
Next Storm Approaches with Rain Chances
As that high pressure shifts east, we lose its influence and wet weather returns. Friday looks to stay dry, however, as the next storm approaches from the east. Mostly cloudy skies will dominate the day before a slight chance of rain showers come Friday evening.
The high on Friday will be in the mid 40’s again before only cooling a little bit that night to about 40° for the low. Saturday is when the most active weather will move in as a cold front sweeps through bringing windy and rainy conditions, especially in the morning.
Winds around 20 mph, with gusts potentially up to 40, are possible. Rainfall won’t be heavy, but “drenching” might be a good way to describe it. Models are predicting about half an inch total. High temperatures for Saturday jump near 60° thanks to warm air pulled north by the system.
Much Cooler Weather Arrives
After the cold front sweeps by, much cooler air filters in behind it as more seasonal weather moves in. Average highs for mid-January sit at about 45°. However, we could start the new week below average for once! Temperatures right now are looking to be around the freezing mark for highs.
We will also be dry as a high pressure takes over once again. It’s finally starting to look more like January rather than April!
