Wet Weather Welcomes Us to 2020

Good morning, everyone! Glad you could stop by this morning. We had a beautiful first day of the new year yesterday, but it was only a red herring, as wet weather welcomes us to 2020.

Bleak Thursday

Today will be quite the contrast to yesterday. Skies Thursday will remain clouded over as the low pressure system approaches from the south. In addition, it will stay pretty wet, too. Rain will move in around mid-morning and continue throughout the day.

Combine that with high temperatures in the low 50’s and that makes for a bleak January day. The rain will continue into the overnight hours as lows don’t fall far from the high, at around 50 degrees.

Preliminary rainfall totals for today and tonight sit at around an inch of rain.

Friday Remains Wet

Friday will look a lot like Thursday, but just not as cold. Since the low originates from the Gulf, it will pull warmer air north as it moves off towards the northeast. Therefore, highs on Friday will end up around 60°.

Rain is expected, especially in the morning. Scattered showers remain possible in the afternoon and evening hours. As the sun goes down, temperatures look to drop into the mid 30’s. The wind will start to pick up as well.

Wind Dries Us Out

Saturday brings some changes after the system moves off. The clouds stick around for the most part, but it’ll be dry. Temperatures cool off too, with highs near 40°. Additionally, breezy winds will whip through WABBLES as the low exits, with gusts in the 20 mph range possible.

Overnight temperatures will end up in the chilly upper 20’s as clouds begin to leave the area.

Sun Returns

A high pressure looks to take over to start the new week, which will help the sunshine to return. Temperatures also stay above average with highs around the 50° mark. With the high pressure in place, WABBLES looks dry for the foreseeable future.

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Stay dry!
