Good morning, friends! The past few days have been fairly mild for the WABBLES region and we look to continue this warm trend. Christmas week is officially upon us whether you are ready for it or not. With it, brings unusually warm temperatures for late December.

Sunday

Yesterday we topped out near 52 and today will be very similar as the high looks to top out right around 54 degrees. Unfortunately, as you look out the window this morning, you likely will see a blanket of clouds. These clouds will stick around all day today as result of a low-pressure system that is dominating the Southeast U.S. Calm winds will accompany these clouds.

The NAM shows that much of Southern KY is covered by clouds (represented by the blue) at 1pm. (pivotal weather)

This system likely will not produce much rain for the area. However, as the moisture increases with cloud cover, a few stray showers cannot be ruled out for your Sunday afternoon/evening and chances completely diminish by midnight.. The low will be 37 degrees overnight.

Monday and Christmas Eve

After the clouds move out, the region will be dominated by upper-level ridging. This will bring us those unusually warm temperatures for late December accompanied by dry air. Monday will be a very pleasant day with lots of sun and the high temperature reaching 57 degrees. (A perfect day to fight the crowds at the malls and get those last minute gifts.)

The low for Monday night will be right around a cool 35 degrees with clear skies. Come Christmas Eve, we will see even warmer temps at 60 degrees with mostly sunny skies. It will be a great day to get outside and enjoy the pleasant weather with your families. The low for Christmas Eve looks to be around 40 degrees with partly cloudy skies…Santa and his sleigh should be pretty easy to spot in the night sky.

Everyday leading up to Christmas Day has been mild and dry and that looks to be the case for this years 25th of December. For those who wanted a white Christmas, start hoping for next year. The high will be 62 degrees with mostly sunny skies. This brings the possibility of opening gifts outside! The night time hours look to be mostly cloudy with a low around 47.
