Arctic High Keeps Us Dry

Good morning, everyone! Glad you could stop by today. According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, WABBLES saw 2-3″ of rain on Monday. The end of our week sure looks different, though, as an arctic high keeps us dry.

Cool Day Today

After the rain moved through, the stationary front was eventually replaced by a high pressure from Canada. This is what brought those cold temperatures yesterday, but also the drier weather. That pattern will stretch into today, too.

Highs today remain cool in the low 40’s, which is slightly below average for mid-December. However, our skies will stay clear as sunshine returns. A decent December day if you ask me! Lows fall into the cold mid-20’s tonight.

Warming Trend This Weekend

Even as the arctic high keeping us dry begins to move out of the area, we will still feel its influence. In addition, an upper-level ridge will transition into our area too. This combination will help us start to warm up this weekend.

Highs on Friday look to hang out around 50° under a partly cloudy sky. Similar conditions are expected for Saturday, with a high in the mid-50’s and a few clouds. It definitely won’t feel like December! Overnight lows will remain near the freezing line, however.

No White Christmas This Year

As much as I would love a good snowfall for Christmas, it doesn’t look like it’s happening this year. It will be much too warm. The Climate Prediction Center is giving us an 80% chance of seeing above average temperatures on and around Christmas.

Right now, highs look to be hanging out around the 60° mark for most of next week, including Christmas Day. That’s about 15° above average! Otherwise, not much action weather-wise is expected.

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Enjoy the sunshine!
