Windy Conditions Before Thanksgiving Festivities

A powerful cold front is to blame for the gloomy weather we had last night. Overnight rain showers have moved on, but we will have windy conditions before Thanksgiving festivities.

Windy WABBLES Wednesday

The cold front will pass through the area, and we will dry out today. The main headline for today’s forecast is the breezy winds.

Wednesday Weather Outlook (WPC)

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for our entire area. This will expire at 4:00 pm later today. Winds will be howling out of the southwest at 15-25 mph, and gusts 50+ mph are possible.

The main impacts from these windy conditions include unsecured objects being blown around. Tree limbs and power lines could also be blown down, causing a few power outages. Power outage maps can be found at Warren Recc and BGMU.

We have already hit our high temperature of 65º this morning at 5:53 am. Temperatures will be falling as the day goes on. It is currently 63º (at 6:25 am), but will be 47º at noon, and 44º by 6pm tonight. We eventually bottom out around 32º. Cloud cover will also be clearing out, allowing that beautiful sunshine to make a brief return.

Increasing Clouds for Turkey Day

Bowling Green has seen quite the variety of weather for Thanksgiving. From the warmest Thanksgiving of 75º, to the snowiest with 2.1 inches, this year seems pretty ordinary weather-wise. Could you imagine eating turkey and stuffing with 2 inches of snow outside?

Clouds will be increasing as the day progresses, eventually becoming overcast by the evening hours. There is a small chance of a few light rain showers, but models are not in good agreement. Forecast should have a better grasp of any rain chances as we analyze more model runs today.

Otherwise, under increasing clouds, temperatures will top out around 47º, with winds only around 5 mph. As we get into the evening hours, cloudy skies and calm winds will accompany temperatures around 34º.

Better Rain Chances Friday Afternoon

There is better model agreement on seeing some rain showers on Friday. We’ll start out Black Friday with mostly cloudy skies, but clouds will be more overcast after lunchtime. Models have a better grasp on seeing some showers around 6 pm Friday.

We should also warm up a few more degrees by the end of the week. Expect highs to reach 51º, so a jacket will still be needed when running around town and getting great shopping deals.

Rain showers will continue Friday night and into Saturday morning. Friday night will slightly drop to 47º, which is not much change in temperature from the high, but still chilly.

That wraps up today’s forecast. Hope you have a great Wednesday and Thanksgiving! Make sure to look for the Afternoon Video Update on Facebook and the Afternoon Weather Story on Twitter, only at @wxornotBG.
