Fall Weather is Back for the Weekend

The front is through the area and showers are tapering off…this means a mostly dry but chilly Saturday is on the way as northwesterly winds ensure an appropriately autumnal day. Yep, fall weather is back for the weekend.

Crisp on Saturday

Today’s going to be the coolest day we’ve seen around here in some time as we’ll be on the backside of a kickin’ cold front.

Any showers still lingering should be exiting the area after the sun comes up on a chilly morning. We’ll be starting out in the low 40s this morning…definitely cold enough to break out some of the more accessible winter-wear.

Northwesterly breezes stick around, keeping us on the cool side, even as the sun makes it’s reappearance during the morning hours. Afternoon temperatures only get up to about 60° thanks to the chilly air mass in place. And yes, there may be some spots that don’t get out of the 50s.

If you’re headed out to the WKU-Army game tonight at Houchens-Smith Stadium, you’re definitely going to want to pack the nice hoodie because it’s going to be chilly at kickoff (near 55° at 6:00pm) and only getting colder, until we’re closer to 45° by game’s end. Hey, at least it won’t be raining!

We’re going to be falling to frosty numbers overnight as the clear skies will allow us to dip to around 35° for an overnight low. This could cause some areas of frost on Sunday morning, so take your necessary precautions with any tender vegetation.

Comfortably Sunny Sunday

Southerly winds return as we start to close out the weekend and that will mean a warmer, but not hot day on tomorrow, coupled with those gorgeous sunny skies.

You’ll definitely want to grab the jacket if you’re headed out to Sunday morning services because we’ll still be chilly to start the day. Temperatures will rise through the 40s and 50s through the morning hours.

Not to worry, though. We’re topping out around 70° tomorrow afternoon thanks to that sunshine coupled with winds returning out of the southwest.

It won’t be a bad day to spend time outdoors…as you know, the time to take advantage of nice weather is slowly running out as we go through the Autumn months. Things stay nice and clear heading into the overnight as we slip back to about 40° for an overnight low.

Another Nice One to Start the Week

We’re keeping the mild weather going as we head back to work and school on Monday. Sunshine and 70s are back with us…sounds like a playground day to me!

We’ll warm quicker thanks to more sunshine, quickly into the low 70s by the afternoon hours. Definitely make sure the kiddos don’t forget the hoodie/coat at school since they’ll be getting there when it’s 45° and leaving when it’s closer to 70°. Clouds creep back in by the evening and overnight hours, keeping lows near 50° for Monday night.

Rain Chances Back Later Next Week

Another system will make a run at us by Tuesday and into Wednesday. Not looking like a huge deal, but you may have to dodge some showers close to midweek. And we’ll be trading those 70s in for 50s and 60s by late next week. Sounds like fall in the Ohio Valley to me.

That just about does it for me! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotbg for the latest updates on the chilly morning’s ahead. Have a terrific Saturday!
