Record Heat Continues for Wednesday

Howdy friends, and happy Wednesday to you all! Bowling Green has broken a few records recently. On Monday, Bowling Green reached 97ºF, which broke the previous record of 95ºF set in 1953. Yesterday, Bowling Green hit 97ºF again, and shattered the all time October monthly record and October 1 daily record. Unfortunately, record heat will continue for Wednesday.

Torrid…

Well folks there’s no easy way to say this, but torrid conditions will continue for us today. High pressure set in place over our area will bring yet another day of record-breaking heat and sunny skies.

The record high temperature for October 2 is 93ºF, which was set 100 years ago today in 1919! Exactly 100 years later, we have a chance today of breaking that record. Our forecast high temperature is 96ºF. Similar to yesterday, expect skies to remain dry and sunny, with a few clouds in the afternoon.

Overnight, skies will remain clear with light winds. Temperatures will drop to 68ºF, which will feel much more comfortable than the mid 90s. Unfortunately, with a forecast low of 68ºF, that is still well above normal for this time of year. The normal low temperature for October 2 is 51ºF.

Summer Heat Continues for Thursday

One more day of summer-like heat will occur tomorrow before a pleasant change. Temperatures will once again approach the 95ºF neighborhood, and could break the October 3 record for highest maximum temperature in Bowling Green. The current record is 94ºF, set in 1903.

Thanks to the high pressure, sunshine and south winds will be sticking around for one more day. But there is hope, as that cold front over Illinois and Missouri will be working towards our area…eventually.

For Thursday night, skies will be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 60ºF. Again, slightly warmer than normal, but it’s getting there.

Glorious Cold Front

A much needed and glorious cold front will arrive sometime Thursday late afternoon/evening, which will help keep temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s for Friday. Still warmer than normal, but we will take it! The one downside is that this cold front will remain dry as there won’t be enough moisture to create much need rain showers.

Dewpoint map above shows the boundary between muggy air exiting and drier air coming in from the north. With drier air and north winds, low 80s will make for a pleasant day.

Overnight, skies will be mostly clear, but with normal temperatures (it’s a miracle!). Lows will bottom out around 53ºF, which will feel fabulous. Winds will remain light and out of the north.

OH YES! A pleasant day in sight! (Giphy)
