Summer-Like Heat to Start Off October

Good morning, folks and happy Monday! Who’s ready to tackle another week? Unfortunately, the summer-like heat that we have been experiencing throughout the whole month of September, will stick around to start off October.

When October starts… (Giphy)

With the first week of October beginning tomorrow, that means hockey season begins in just a few days. I don’t know about you, but when I think of the beginning of hockey season, I think of cooler weather!

Overview

A large, upper-level ridge that has been plaguing us over the past several weeks will stick around for much of the work week! The upper-level ridge will continue to support an area of high pressure that will continue to meander across the southeast portion of the United States.

Dominating high pressure over the SE! (Tropical Tidbits)

With a dominating area of high-pressure overhead, this means that very hot temperatures will build and surge into the area. Also, the high-pressure overhead will suppress and not allow any rain chances to take place in the near future. With little-to-no rain chances insight, that will just add insult to injury for any relief of the drought that is currently taking place over the Bluegrass.

Today

Warm start to the morning as you head out the door with temperatures in the lower 70s and mostly clear skies. Temperatures rise rapidly through the late morning and early afternoon hours, approaching and likely surpassing daily record high temperatures across the area. Temperatures across the area will be in the middle-to-upper 90s with heat index values approaching 100 degrees! Stay cool and stay hydrated out there, folks!

Tuesday/Wednesday

Not a whole lot will change heading into Tuesday and Wednesday. High temperatures across the WABBLES region will rise into the middle-to-upper 90s with mostly sunny skies. Again, don’t take this heat lightly, stay cool and stay hydrated!!
