Hot and Dry September Streak Keeps Getting Longer

Happy Thursday, friends! Glad you could stop by this morning. Our streak of hot and dry conditions has reached about 22 days according to the Kentucky Mesonet. A pattern change could be on the horizon, but for now, our hot and dry September continues.

Can You Guess What Our High Will Be?

With the large ridge still in place, our daytime conditions won’t deviate much from what it’s been doing recently. As you probably guessed, our highs today will end up around 90 degrees with help from winds from the southwest. We could see some clouds develop later in the day, but the dry soil will still help temperatures rise significantly.

A plus to this situation is that dew points are slowly lowering! Muggy days will become more few and far between. In addition, low dew points mean our nighttime lows start getting cooler, too. Lows tonight will drop to about 70 degrees.

Repeat Forecast for Friday and Saturday

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some sort of change. We won’t get that, sadly, this weekend. Another sunny day is expected on Friday with highs again near 90 degrees. As we transition into Friday evening, temperatures look to be in the low 80’s for the start of any high school football games. Low will continue to cool overnight into the low 60’s.

If anything, these sunny and dry days have been beautiful. We can expect another beautiful, but hot and dry, day on Saturday with highs…you guessed it…in the upper 80’s. Dew points in the low 60’s will help keep things relatively comfortable. Definitely a day I would take advantage of if you’re a summer lover.

Changes Maybe??

As we approach the Fall Equinox, aka the first day of fall, it will feel far from it. However, we could see a brief pattern break to start the new week and new season. The high pressure that has dominated our weather finally moves out ahead of a cold front that will move through on Monday. While this might be another “dry” cold front, chances for rain will still go up in some areas.

This looks to be the best chance we have at seeing precipitation for the time being. The Climate Prediction Center still has us receiving below average rainfall even 14 days out. We’ll be ready when the rain finally does come, though.

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Enjoy the sunny weather!
