Summertime Pattern Settles in for the Weekend

It’s been fairly quiet around the are this week, after one lone bout of wet weather moving through early in the week. However, we’re shaking the pattern up a touch and bringing back the daily chance for a scattered storm as a summertime pattern settles in for the weekend.

Maybe an Isolated Storm This Afternoon

Your Friday will very much resemble your Thursday with mostly sunny skies dominating the afternoon hours, the only thing obscuring the sun being some fair weather cumulus clouds.

However, some of us may see our doorways darken with a couple of isolated downpours or thunderstorms. Those in the far eastern parts of the area ran into a little rain yesterday and that will be possible again this afternoon and evening, and once again, the most favored area looks to be east of I-65.

Daytime highs without a cooling storm will reach a muggy 90° once again around the area in typical early-August fashion. Any storms fade away as the lose the daytime heating and we slip back to a low around 67°.

A Repeat for Saturday

Make it three in a row for toasty temps, mostly sunny skies with the whiff of a chance of a scattered storm as a broad northwesterly flow pattern continues to control the Ohio Valley.

Mostly sunny with highs near 90° will once again be in the offering for your Saturday afternoon. And, like today, the possibility will be there for a scattered afternoon storm.

It’s a good day to keep the sunscreen handy, whether you’re headed to the lake, lounging by the pool or just doing yard work. High temperatures will once again flirt with the 90° mark with heat indices a couple degrees over that withe the mugginess around the area. Otherwise, things cool down to near 70° overnight as storms dissipate.

Isolated Again on Sunday

A familiar forecast continues to close out the weekend, with yet another chance of an isolated afternoon storm interrupting a muggy, mostly sunny August day.

Highs should once again top out close to 90° as showers and thunderstorms will attempt to bubble up.

At this point, the NAM wants to keep them south, but I think we still have a shot. (Pivotal Weather)

The models don’t really handle pop-up storms well this far out but I think we have a chance as we go through the late afternoon and evening hours on Sunday. Any scattered storms should again dissipate around sunset, with a low near 65°.

Mostly Sunny and Dry to Start the Week

We’ll temporarily get rid of the troughiness toward the beginning of the week, getting rid of the storm chances but also increasing the mercury. Highs look to top out near 90° both days as we await storms that may roll in towards Wednesday, possibly setting up a much more pleasant end of next week…we’ll see.
