Storm Chances to Continue to Start the Week

Good morning, folks! We have quite the interesting forecast coming up, with storm chances to continue to start the week. Lets dive in!

Sunday Storm Chances

As has been advertised, storms are expected across the region this afternoon, and are actually already ongoing across the region this morning.

The ongoing activity isn’t severe, and we aren’t expecting widespread severe chances throughout the day. Storms are expected to be numerous this afternoon. If you have outdoor activities, plan accordingly!

Storms should begin to really start popping later this morning, as heating increases, the mid-level low slowly approaches, and we get a weak outflow boundary from storms to our north.

These should combine to create lots of storms. If they do become severe, the primary threats will be damaging winds and lightning. Heavy rainfall is also expected with any storm that pops up.

Highs should end up in the low to mid 80s, but if storms become numerous before peak heating, we may see the lower end of that range. Models haven’t been great this morning, so its hard to pin that down.

Storm Chances to Continue Monday/Tuesday

The upper level system that is largely driving our daily storm chances is going to be slooooowly moving eastward. By Tuesday, this system will finally begin to move on to our east. Before that, expect multiple rounds of storms.

I will preface this by saying that models haven’t performed well with specifics on this with this pattern. The general idea, though, is still there.

On Monday, expect storms to be most numerous during the afternoon hours. There is a chance that a complex of storms overnight tonight throws a wrench into it tomorrow morning, but I don’t expect that *just* yet.

Hopefully that wrench doesn't hurt as bad as this one looks to. h/t giphy.com

Highs in the afternoon should be in the mid 80s. Primary threats from storms will be heavy rain, lightning, and strong wind gusts. Expect a similar story on Tuesday.

Highs will be in the low to mid 80s, with numerous storms expected during the afternoon hours. These may be more focused as the mid-level system and weak surface low approach the region.

This upper level system should help to create numerous storms across the region on Tuesday. Don't be surprised if there is a strong storm or two. h/t COD Weather

As with most days during this timespan, the SPC has placed us in a Marginal Risk for severe storms. The primary threats are heavy rain, lightning, and damaging winds.

More Storms Late Week!

This really is the classic rinse and repeat summer time pattern. Storm chances daily, maybe severe, but definitely cool you down for a bit.

Wednesday and Thursday look to have solid chances for more showers and storms to wreck afternoon plans. Highs each day will be in the low to mid 80s, and storms will be expected during the afternoon hours.

Friday looks like it may provide a brief break, but we’ll have to get closer before I declare that a reality. Despite that, we’re still expecting plenty of rain over the next week.
