Clear and Cool Conditions Before Rain Chances Return

Greetings, everyone! We’ve made it over the hump. It’s almost the weekend and we have a beautiful one in store. I have to keep reminding myself it’s June and not October with these cool, fall-like temperatures! They’ll stick around for a little bit longer before changes come our way. We’ll enjoy these clear and cool conditions before rain chances return.

I’m about as excited for fall as this dog is! (Giphy)

Sunny Skies to End the Week

A high pressure from the west comes our way today and settles itself over our area. It will push out any remaining clouds and leave behind a beautiful sunny sky for our Thursday. Temperatures will struggle to leave the low 70’s today, which is 15 degrees below normal! It could also get a little breezy later on with winds blowing near 15-20 mph.  Lows tonight will drop to around 50 degrees.

Temps will be on the cool side with some breezy winds. (NAM)

Friday will see similar conditions with clear skies and temperatures warming slightly to the mid-70’s. Winds will die down too, making for a very enjoyable start to the weekend. Nighttime lows wont be as cool either, with Friday’s low temperatures in the low 60’s.

Heat Returns Ahead of Rain Chances

As a result of winds shifting from NW to SW,  the heat is able to filter back in to South-Central Kentucky. Saturday’s highs will get to the mid-to-upper 80’s. Dew points will begin to rise as well, creating some muggy conditions we haven’t seen in a while. Clouds will also begin to make their way back in thanks to a frontal boundary to our north.

As we head into a new week, the heat and humidity will stick around for Sunday with highs in the upper 80’s before cooling again slightly for Monday. We can expect highs around the 80 degree mark. Models are still in disagreement, but we could see that frontal boundary begin to shift southward as we get into the week. This brings the opportunity for scattered thunderstorms that could stick around for a while.

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotbg, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Enjoy this beautiful weekend!
