Cool Temps Stick Around to Kickoff The Workweek

Welcome back! Last we joined you, clouds and showers had returned to give our weekend a rather damp look to it. But, while clouds are hanging tough, cool temps stick around to kickoff the workweek.

Mostly Cloudy Monday

Those pesky clouds will be tough to get rid of today, thanks to an exiting system that sideswiped us overnight.

We’ve got just enough moisture left over to keep clouds ever-present overhead today to go hand-in-hand with those cool temperatures.

Does this mean you can’t catch a ray or two of sunshine? No, but there will be more instances of clouds than sun this afternoon. Winds will be out of the northwesterly direction once again and this means cool highs topping out only around 62º. High pressure begins to take control tonight and we’ll see that cloud canopy begin to thin.

Lows tonight fall back to about 45º with the threat of some patchy fog out there. Otherwise partly cloudy skies.

Tuesday’s Easily the Pick of the Week

Tomorrow is definitely a day you’ll want to spend some time outside because, by mid-May standards, it’s going to be absolutely gorgeous.

High pressure will be firmly in control and, after some patchy fog, we’ll break out into mostly sunny skies for the afternoon hours. That means a high temperature floating right about 70º. It’s just going to be one of these weird days where you grab the jacket in the morning and have to remember to grab it as you leave work/school in the afternoon. In any case, I’m not complaining.

A few clouds begin to drift back in overnight with a low near 50º. This will be ahead of our next rainmaker as we head into the midweek.

Showers/Storms Return for Wednesday

A passing weather system will bring back the chance for showers/thunderstorms as the midweek rolls around.

High pressure will shift off to the east along with a warm front crossing the region, which will allow slightly warmer conditions with those southerly winds. Highs top out near 73º with scattered showers and thunderstorms popping off during the afternoon hours. Those will stick around through the evening until we can lose the daytime heating. Overnight lows near 55º.

Sharply Warmer Late Week

Things begin to warm up later this week as higher pressure sets up shop to the east. Mostly sunny skies will re-join us on the back side of Wednesday’s system with highs in the low 80s. We’ll have to watch a system working toward us for the Friday timeframe for some thunderstorm potential

Then the heat’s on. Highs are back in the upper 80s for Friday and into Saturday as well. Rain chances also head back up as we head later in the weekend.

That just about does it for me! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotbg for the latest updates on your forecast. Have a terrific Monday!
