Breezy and Cloudy, but Warm Today

Hold on tight to your Valentine’s Day cards and boxes. This morning’s brisk wind may try to steal them. Winds could gust over 30 mph as a weak, early evening cold front brings an end to our warm temperatures.

Some sprinkles or light rain showers are possible early this evening (6-9 pm) from the weak cold front.

Find your coat again, as tomorrow morning will start in the cold and cloudy low 30’s. Temperatures will briefly rebound to the low 40’s before a low pressure system sliding to our south begins drawing moisture into our region.

At this point, the precipitation looks to begin as rain in the mid-afternoon and then transition to a wintry mix during the evening hours. Light accumulations are possible with chances for snow, sleet, and freezing rain increasing from south to north.

Anyone with Valentine’s weekend dinner or Saturday morning travel plans should pay close attention as we fine tune our forecast since slight changes in the position of the weather system can greatly effect its impacts.

Slow Warm-Up Over Weekend

Flurries and slick roads will be a distinct possibility for the first couple hours of Saturday morning before the clouds break and temperatures summit freezing. Highs will reach the mid-40’s Saturday afternoon.

Sunday will continue the warming trend with a high in the 50’s, but feature a chance for rain showers overnight. Cool and rainy conditions look to continue for the beginning of next week.

That’s all I have for today. Have a great Valentine’s Day and follow @wxornotBG for the latest updates on tomorrow’s developing wintry weather.
