Dense Fog Gives Way To a Beautiful Weekend

Good morning south central Kentucky! Early risers could be treated to reduced visibility before this morning’s dense fog gives way to a beautiful weekend.

Dense and Freezing Fog Possible until 9 a.m.

With temperatures dipping into the upper 20’s this morning, the dense, freezing fog that formed could also coat bridges and overpasses with a slick sheet of black ice.

Overnight satellite imagery (below) has picked up the branch-like fog growth (in green) in our region’s river valleys. If you have to drive through these areas before about 9 a.m., take it slow.

Beautiful, Sunny Weekend Ahead

After a cold, wet week, don’t waste this weekend indoors! This morning’s fog will burn off to give us sunny skies and highs in upper 50’s for today and tomorrow–perfect for both raking leaves and watching football.

Weak Cold Front Arrives Monday

Unfortunately, all good weather must come to an end. A weak cold front provides us cloudy skies with temperatures in the low 50’s for Monday and Tuesday, but breathe easy as there is no chance of snow, ice, or storms with this system for our area.

Overall, weather conditions on Wednesday and Thursday look pretty clear for much of the eastern U.S. under a dominating dome of high pressure. Temperatures look to be in the mid-50’s on Thanksgiving if home is in our neck of the woods.
