Good morning and Happy Halloween-Eve! We have a gorgeous day in store with a soggy Halloween on the way. Our main concern is the Flood Watch that has been issued for our area lasting from Wednesday night through Thursday night. I’ve got all the details below!
A Gorgeous Day Is In Store
Today will bring warmer temperatures than we have had over the past several days. The high will reach into the low-70s with light southerly winds. Our skies will be clear from precipitation thanks to a high pressure system centered to our southeast.
The low will drop to the low-40s and precipitation chances will increase overnight in preparation for the heavy rains that will impact our area tomorrow.
A Wet Halloween
Southerly winds have aided our atmosphere in being pumped full of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. A cold front will approach from the northwest and stall out over our region.
This stalled front could potentially dump 2+ inches of rain from Wednesday through Thursday. You might need to add a rain jacket and an umbrella to your costume.
Warm temperatures (low-70s) will stick around for Wednesday but precipitation is imminent. If you chose to dress as a fish for Halloween, you made a great call. You could see light rain showers lingering throughout the day on Wednesday with the possibility of intermittent times of heavier showers and embedded rumbles of thunder.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for our area Wednesday night through Thursday night with rainfall totals predicted to reach 2+ inches in some spots. Winds are expected to remain around 15 mph throughout the day with gusts ranging from 25-30 mph.
Trick-Or-Treat Forecast
If your community is still planning Trick-Or-Treat for tomorrow night, you will likely see continued showers and gusty winds. The heavier rainfall will pickup as we head into the overnight hours and into Thursday.
Do you like your Thursdays soggy?
The rain will continue and pick up in intensity as we head into Thursday and kick off November. The high will be slightly cooler around the mid-60s with winds still sticking around 15 mph.
We will still be under a flood watch at this time, so be aware of your surroundings and watch out for areas of localized flooding. By the end of the day on Thursday, we are predicted to have possibly received 2+ inches of rain in some areas.
That concludes my forecast this morning! Enjoy this beautiful day before elongated showers impact the area starting tomorrow. Be safe on Halloween and remember to keep up to date with the timing of showers and rainfall totals @wxornotBG. Have a great day!
