Summertime in Fall Continues Through Friday

Hey folks! Happy hump day! I hope everyone has had a wonderful week thus far, and is looking forward to the weekend (I know I am). Unfortunately, the weather looks lame as summertime in fall continues through Friday.

Heat and Humidity Dominate

Ahh, the summertime blues is back. Highs in the 90s and dewpoints in the upper 60s and lower 70s is quite a bummer to me this time of year.

I am fully ready for fall temperatures. In the meantime, a strong ridge of high pressure will be building in across the region during the day on Wednesday and Thursday.

This will keep the summertime weather here to stay through the end of the week. Highs should be in the lower 90s (91ºF-93ºF) both days, with dewpoints making the air quite oppressive.

During the peak heating of the day, isolated showers and storms are expected. They won’t be widespread, but if you get lucky enough to see one, it should cool the air.

Storm Chances Increase Friday

As we approach Friday and the weekend, a nice cold front will begin to approach the region from the north. This will bring with it a much higher chance at showers and thunderstorms.

The cold front will be quite slow to push into and through the region, so I expect the highest threat for rainfall to come Friday afternoon/evening.

Highs on Friday should be similar to today and Thursday, in the upper 80s and lower 90s (89ºF-91ºF). The greatest threats with any storms will be lightning and heavy rainfall.

The front looks as if it could stall just to our south in Tennessee on Saturday, which throws a wrench into this weekend’s forecast. Even still, much cooler weather (upper 70s) is expected to infiltrate the region Saturday and Sunday.

Additionally, there is the threat for rainfall during the day on Sunday, which would keep temperatures even cooler. So keep hope, Fall lovers! Fall is coming.
