Leftover Showers/Storms Give way to a Cool Down

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone has had a fantastic weekend out there, and is getting well rested for another week at work. Leftover showers/storms give way to a cool down for the start of the work week, but heat returns later in the week.

Sunday Leftover Showers

Not the best kind of leftovers on Sunday, but it’ll help keep a Fall-like feel to the weather out there throughout today.

We’re currently seeing shower/storms maneuver through the region, and clouds are plentiful. Temps are in the lower 70s, and won’t move too much today. Expect highs in the mid 70s (~74ºF-75ºF) because of clouds and the cold front.

That pesky cold front is the primary reason we’re seeing this kind of weather, and it is slowly pushing eastward. It is sitting on top of us now, and should pass through soon. So, the best chance of heavy rain will be this morning, with chances for showers remaining this afternoon.

Clouds look to hang tough for sometime today and into early this week, though.

Amazing Airmass Arrives

Just off to our northwest, there are dewpoints in the 50s. Yes, you read that right. Behind this cold front in southern Illinois and southeastern Missouri, there are dewpoints less than 60ºF.

It is pretty amazing. And guess what? We are looking to get in on that action!!

The new airmass will flood into the region behind the passage of the cold front today, and will provide plentiful opportunities for you to get your Fall on early this week.

Highs will likely be in the mid and upper 70s Monday and Tuesday, with Monday being the cooler of the two (76ºF-77ºF) and Tuesday a tad bit warmer (78ºF-80ºF).

The only issue is that cloud cover looks to stream in from the south and southwest. A pesky upper level trough will be placed to our west, and this will be the primary forcing for the cloud cover.

It’ll still be really nice out, though. Get out there and enjoy it!

Heat Returns and Eyes on Florence

We won’t be hot by any stretch on Wednesday, but the low and mid 80s will return, with return to the upper 80s Thursday and Friday. A strong ridge of high pressure will exert its will on the region, and will help to create some higher temps.

It won’t be as bad as it has been recently, though. So that is a plus! By this point in the week, though, the country will likely have its eyes on our neighbors in the Carolinas, as Tropical Storm Florence is forecast to impact that area.
